Jhon Duran to Chelsea update after £80m star signs new Aston Villa contract

Jhon Duran has been a stand-out and even somewhat surprise performer for Aston Villa this season. The 20-year-old Colombian striker has scored six goals in nine games in all competitions, with all of his strikes coming as a substitute, following a summer of turmoil over his future.

In the Premier League, he’s netted against West Ham, Leicester, Everton, and Wolves, while in the Champions League, he scored the only goal as Villa recorded an historic win over Bayern Munich – thumping in a stunning half-volley from the edge of the area.

Emery missed out on £100m "menace" for Villa, settling for Duran instead

Emery had the chance to sign a player who is now valued at £100m by his current club…

ByRoss Kilvington Oct 5, 2024

Unsurprisingly, Villa boss Unai Emery is over the moon with how well his back-up forward is performing.

“He arrived here two years ago and he is young, his potential is huge,” the Spaniard said of Duran after the win over Bayern, which was a repeat of Villa’s famous European Cup final victory over the German club.

“Sometimes he has been impatient and I need to speak to him as a person and connect to him as a person,” Emery added. “As well as a player to try to let him play, putting him on the field because his talent is there and the capacity to help us.”

Duran pens new contract

In light of Duran’s good form, on Monday, Villa announced that the forward has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club until 2030. While on the face of it, that might seem like good news for Villa fans, Chelsea News reporter Simon Phillips doesn’t agree.

Chelsea had come close to signing Duran, who, according to TEAMtalk, Villa now value at £80 million, in the summer, with a £42 million deal collapsing at the last hurdle. Phillips, however, doesn’t believe the new contract will stop Chelsea coming back in for the player, but rather just give Villa more power at the negotiating table if they do.

Chelsea likely to make another move for Duran in 2025

“Just because a player signs a new contract extension at their club, in this day and age it means very little other than the club who owns said player having much more power in negotiations should they sell,” Phillips wrote for Chelsea News on Monday.

“We have seen various examples of this in recent times where a player agrees to a contract extension with their club after being linked with moves away for months and even getting as far as being in talks with other clubs. Said player then ends up being sold not too long after the new contract was agreed,” he added.

Phillips wrote that he’d be “shocked if it doesn’t contain a release clause,” or “at least some kind of agreement to let him leave the club down the line”, adding that “Chelsea will absolutely still hold an interest in the striker”.

Crystal Palace signed Fryers instead of future £75m star in the making

Crystal Palace’s recruitment over the last couple of years has allowed the club to cement their place as a consistent mid-table side in the Premier League.

Whilst there may have been huge disappointment in losing star forward Michael Olise over the summer, his transfer to European giants Bayern Munich highlights how impressive their transfer business has been over the past few seasons.

The Frenchman moved to Selhurst Park in an £8m deal from then Championship side Reading, making a huge impact in the Eagles’ first team – scoring 16 times in his 90 appearances for the club.

Michael Olise

Olise subsequently left Palace in a £50m deal this summer – allowing the club to net a £42m profit in three years – helping them invest in the next young prospect and hopefully replicate a deal for the 22-year-old.

However, despite the recent success in the transfer market, the Eagles have previously failed to make key additions, resulting in the signing of one player who never lived up to the hype in South London.

Zeki Fryers’ time at Crystal Palace

Left-back Zeki Fryers moved to Crystal Palace in a £3m deal from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur during the summer of the 2014/15 season – arriving with real promise after his time at White Hart Lane.

However, the youngster failed to impress at Selhurst Park, only making two appearances during his debut campaign with the club.

He was sent on two separate loan spells during the same season to Championship sides Ipswich Town and Rotherham, before enjoying his most successful season with the Eagles during the 2016/17 season.

Fryers featured in 12 matches for Sam Allardyce’s side, appearing for 466 minutes during the entire campaign – further signalling his lack of impact during his time at Selhurst Park.

The aforementioned season would be his final at the club, departing on a free transfer upon the end of his contract, making a total of just 14 appearances for the first team over a three-year period.

The deal for the full-back looks even more embarrassing, especially when considering that the club were targeting a talent who has gone on to have a very successful stint in the Premier League.

The man who Palace decided against signing in 2014

Centre-back Virgil van Dijk has cemented himself as one of the best defenders in English top-flight history after his £75m transfer to Liverpool back in 2018.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk

The Netherlands international has won pretty much everything there is to win in England, including a Premier League title, and various League Cup and FA Cup trophies along the way.

The 33-year-old has amassed 276 appearances for the Reds, with his dominance at the back helping the club achieve the unimaginable under Jürgen Klopp.

However, the Eagles had the opportunity to sign the ace back in the 2014/15 season under Neil Warnock but rejected the chance to sign the defender whilst he was plying his trade for Celtic north of the border.

One that got away

The transfers that nearly happened but never did. This article is part of Football FanCast's One That Got Away series.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Warnock said: “He was at Celtic, I was at Palace, I sent [a scout] up to watch him at Celtic and he came back and said, ‘he’ll do for us’.

“I said to Steve Parish and the stats man that I want to sign Van Dijk for £3m. Parish, as with all of the other chairmen, rely on the stats man and he was saying ‘we don’t think he’s quick enough for the Premier League’.

Former Huddersfield boss Neil Warnock.

“We didn’t sign him and Southampton signed him and ended up getting 70-odd million for him when Liverpool signed him.”

Given his success elsewhere, the club must regret not completing a deal for the defender with his talent undoubtedly improving the club’s backline in the Premier League.

This deal is evidence that sometimes deals should be completed without external interventions, but unfortunately for the Eagles – the Van Dijk move will always remain as one that got away.

As well as Guedes: O’Neil must now unleash Wolves’ £60k-p/w gem

Wolverhampton Wanderers succumbed to yet another defeat on Wednesday night, this time in the EFL Cup, as they lost 3-2 to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Gary O’Neil made a few changes to his starting XI for the cup clash, but the team failed to deliver on the pitch, as the loss means the Old Gold have now lost all but two of their six matches of the 2024/25 campaign.

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil

One player who did impress was Goncalo Guedes, as the Portuguese forward took his opportunity to shine.

Goncalo Guedes’ game in numbers vs Brighton

The previously outcast forward spent last season out on loan, but it now looks like he could slot into O’Neil’s plans, especially after a decent start to the term.

Indeed, the 27-year-old has scored three goals in just four appearances, and it was his display against the Seagulls which could see him claim another start against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

Goncalo Guedes

Guedes played 82 minutes on Wednesday evening. Not only did he get on the scoresheet again, but the winger took four shots in total, made two key passes and created one big chance during his time on the field, showcasing his hunger to get involved as often as possible.

The former Benfica gem also won three of his five ground duels and led the line admirably, despite the end result.

This performance surely deserves another chance in the starting XI against Unai Emery’s men. O’Neil could also unleash one of Wolves’ finest players from last term who can form a solid partnership with Guedes – Mattheus Cunha.

Matheus Cunha’s season in numbers

The £60k-per-week star ranked in the top 4% for progressive carries and successful take-ons per 90 when compared to his positional peers in Europe’s top five leagues over the previous 12 months, showcasing how effective he has been going forward for Wolves.

Add in the fact he scored 14 times while registering eight assists in all competitions last term, and it is clear that the Brazilian is key to the Old Gold.

Once hailed as “one of the most exciting players in the Bundesliga” by journalist Ninad Barbadikar during his spell at RB Leipzig, he certainly deserves to be unleashed tomorrow afternoon.

While Guedes would operate as the lone centre-forward against Villa, Cunha could drop slightly deeper by playing as a number ten, a position in which he registered seven goal contributions last season.

This partnership could potentially see the Molineux outfit claim their first victory in the Premier League season, but the entire team will have to be at their very best in order to secure a positive result.

Matheus Cunha

There is no doubt that O’Neil has a wonderful squad, but the onus is for him to get them firing sooner rather than later.

If not, they could get sucked into a relegation battle, which would be a travesty considering how well they shone in spells last season.

Bye-bye: Chelsea planning to accept permanent offer to sell £100k-p/w ace

Chelsea and Enzo Maresca are now ready to move on a member of their squad permanently in January, it has emerged, after they failed to do so over the summer.

Chelsea secure win at Bournemouth

Chelsea’s substitutes lifted them to a tough 1-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, as Jadon Sancho provided the assist for Christopher Nkunku to poke home late in the day, the pair both having come off the bench to rescue the result.

Comfortably second-best for much of the encounter, the result nonetheless continues Chelsea’s encouraging start to the Premier League campaign under Maresca, lifting them to 8th place after four games with their only defeat coming at the hands of reigning champions Manchester City.

But as is so often the case in west London under the current ownership, transfers continue to dominate the news.

Chelsea plan to accept permanent bids for midfielder

Now, one report has revealed that Chelsea are gearing up to cash in on midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka after he missed out on a loan move away this summer.

Maresca hailed the midfielder a “very good player” ahead of the season but added that he needed game time, refusing to guarantee him any at Stamford Bridge.

“Carney, I think he is a very good player. With us, is he going to play 35 games? I’m not sure”, the Italian explained. “The problem is, because of some injuries in the past, I think the best for him is to play 30 or 35 games in a row, to show himself that he is fit and how good he is because he is very good.”

However, the England U20 international couldn’t finalise a loan move away from the club before the window slammed shut and now looks set for a bit-part role in west London.

Carney-Chukwuemeka-Chelsea-star

As a result, despite still having four years left to run on his £100,000 a week deal at Stamford Bridge, Football Insider report that Chelsea are ready to cash in on him in January permanently. In fact, such is their desire for a permanent exit that they “will reject any loan offers” for the youngster, having been willing to accept such deals over the summer.

Chukwuemeka has featured sparingly for the Blues since his arrival and looks unlikely to see the pitch any time soon in the Premier League, having been left out of the matchday squad for Saturday’s win over Bournemouth despite the absences of both Enzo Fernandez and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with Maresca opting to use young defender Renato Veiga alongside Moises Caicedo.

Though registered for the Conference League, the 20-year-old is likely to want more football than Europe’s third-tier competition can offer. Given the midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order, a departure may well be best for all parties, while his age means that the Blues may not make a loss on their £20m signing despite his three unproductive seasons at the club.

Man United "have been assured" superstar wants to join

Manchester United target Andre Onana is 'very open' to a switch to Old Trafford from Inter Milan and progress on a potential transfer could be made 'this week', according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

What's the latest transfer news involving Andre Onana and Man United?

According to Sky Sports News, Manchester United have made a bid worth €45 million (£38.5 million) to try and land Onana's signature this summer while talks over a move for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund are continuing.

The report states that there is a gap in valuation between the two clubs; however, optimism exists that a compromise can be agreed upon between Inter Milan and Manchester United.

As per 90min, Inter Milan are holding out for around €60 million (£51 million) before considering selling the £63k-a-week ace, though Manchester United are willing to pay a maximum of €50 million (£43 million) for the 27-year-old stopper and believe that they have a strong hand in discussions.

Other names have also emerged on Manchester United's goalkeeper target list, including Feyenoord's Justin Bijlow, who could be available for a fee in the region of £25 million.

Brighton & Hove Albion stopper Robert Sanchez has emerged as a cheaper alternative if Manchester United fail in their endeavours to bring in Onana and would cost around £30 million to bring to Old Trafford, as per The Daily Mail.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Jones expects progress on Onana's proposed move to Manchester United imminently.

Jones stated: "The fallout from the weekend is that United do intend to stay on the trail of Onana but they have been cautious not to rush into their offer for him. One key thing in this transfer interest is that they have been assured that Onana is very open to joining them – he’s not forcing his way out of Inter but he would love to be United’s next number one if he does leave.

"That’s promising for United. Links with him to Saudi Arabia do not help their cause as they have no intention of being used as an auctioning tool and they will not get dragged into a price war.

"But I expect progress this week, one way or the other, as De Gea needs some clarifications too."

Would Andre Onana be a good signing for Manchester United?

Onana is a reliable shot-stopper and very comfortable with the ball at his feet, fitting Erik Ten Hag's possession-based tactical framework nicely.

Last term, the Cameroon international amassed 41 appearances in all competitions for Inter Milan, keeping 19 clean sheets, as per Transfermarkt.

Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

As per FBRef, Onana recorded save percentages of 73.5% and 80.7% in Serie A and the Champions League, respectively, demonstrating his capacity to come up with important contributions in key moments for his current employers.

Of course, Manchester United face a stand-off with David De Gea at present, who was set to agree an extension at the club before a U-turn occurred, leaving him as a free agent and unlikely to return to the club if a move for Onana is completed, as per talkSPORT.

Having a clean break may be best for both parties and, in turn, enable Ten Hag to rely on a man that is more in tune with his ideals between the sticks in the form of Onana, who would be a statement signing for Manchester United ahead of 2023/24 commencing.

"Magnificent" £37k-p/w Ace "High" On Tottenham’s List Of Targets

Tottenham Hotspur have Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo "high" on their list of targets for the summer, according to journalist Alasdair Gold.

Which defenders are Tottenham signing?

In a recent update on Twitter, Gold confirmed that Adarabioyo is one of Tottenham's key defensive targets for this window, saying:

"Understand Tosin Adarabioyo remains high on Spurs' list of potential central defender moves this summer after some extensive scouting last season."

However, the Fulham defender is not Spurs' only potential target, as detailed by Gold in his report for Football London, with Bundesliga duo Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven also said to be on their list of targets.

The Lilywhites are looking to overhaul their defence ahead of next season, and talks are ongoing over a deal for Tapsoba, who Gold has previously highlighted as the club's "main target".

Van de Ven remains an option if Tottenham are unable to get a move for Tapsoba over the line, with the Dutch centre-back expected to leave Wolfsburg this summer, according to journalist Ryan Taylor.

In the aforementioned Football London report, Gold claims that Adarabioyo ticks plenty of boxes, as he is a homegrown player, and his contract is set to expire at the end of next season, meaning he could be available for a knock-down fee.

The £37k-per-week defender's performances last season have earmarked him as a strong possibility for Ange Postecoglou's defence, however, Spurs will have to fend off interest from elsewhere, with the likes of Inter Milan and AS Monaco also interested.

Is Tosin Adarabioyo leaving Fulham?

With some top clubs from across Europe interested in the centre-back, it would not be a surprise if he seeks pastures new this summer, and some of his displays in the 2022-23 campaign indicate he could be a solid signing for Tottenham.

Having previously been hailed as "magnificent" by former Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray, the Englishman has now started to prove himself in the Premier League, averaging 5.5 clearances per game last term, the highest amount in the Fulham squad.

Tosin-Adarabioyo-fulham-transfer-gossip-postecoglou-tottenham-hotspur-silva-eric-dier

The former Blackburn man received a match rating of over 7.0 in eight of his final ten games for Fulham last season, putting in a very solid display despite a 1-0 loss at Liverpool, making eight clearances and one interception.

Adarabioyo had a very strong end to the 2022-23 campaign, and he could now be ready to take the next step his career by making the switch to Tottenham.

Rodgers Eyeing Celtic Swoop To Sign £2.6m Dynamo

An update has emerged on Celtic and their plans to bolster their options in the middle of the park ahead of the 2023/24 campaign…

What's the latest on Kings Kangwa to Celtic?

The Guardian journalist Ed Aarons has revealed that the Hoops are one of a number of clubs eyeing up a swoop for Red Star Belgrade ace Kings Kangwa this summer as Brendan Rodgers looks to improve his team.

The reporter tweeted: "Nottingham Forest have held talks with Red Star Belgrade over signing Kings Kangwa. The centre midfielder scored in Zambia's win against Ivory Coast in Afcon qualifying last week and is likely to cost €3m. Celtic, Fiorentina, Lille and Montpellier also interested in 24-year-old."

However, it now remains to be seen whether or not the Scottish giants will formalise their interest with an official bid to land the £2.6m-rated talent given the stiff competition that they would seemingly face for his signature in the coming weeks.

What is Kings Kangwa's style of play?

The Red Star hotshot, who was described as a "great ball-carrier" by player analyst Chris Kearney, is an all-action midfielder who can make key contributions at both ends of the pitch.

Earlier this year, Football Insider claimed that current Hoops ace Matt O'Riley would be open to an exit this summer amid interest from English Premier League teams, and Kangwa could be the dream heir to the Denmark international at Parkhead.

The former MK Dons dynamo averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.30 across 38 Scottish Premiership outings in 22/23 and showcased his ability on and off the ball.

Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley.

In possession, O'Riley chipped in with three goals and 2.2 chances created per match for his side, which resulted in an eye-catching 12 assists.

The Danish maestro also put the hard work in defensively to make 2.2 tackles and interceptions per match, although he struggled in physical battles, with a duel success rate of just 44%.

Kangwa, meanwhile, averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.24 across 32 Superliga matches for Red Star in 22/23 and made his presence felt in the final third with eight goals and 1.4 key passes per outing.

These statistics indicate that, provided he can replicate his form from the Czech top flight, the 24-year-old could provide a similar level of attacking threat in comparison to the Celtic star, albeit that it may come more in terms of scoring goals than creating them.

The Zambia international displayed strength in the middle of the park with a duel success rate of 55% and made 2.1 tackles and interceptions per match, which suggests that the talented ace could even be more efficient than O'Riley out of possession.

Therefore, Rodgers could land a dream heir to the ex-Fulham midfielder by beating off interest from the host of other clubs eyeing Kangwa to land his services this summer, as he is another box-to-box gem who could provide quality across the park.

Arsenal Could Sign "Magic" Ace In £51m Swoop

Arsenal have been linked with a Serie A gem as Mikel Arteta aims to bolster his squad this summer.

The transfer window officially opened on Wednesday to commence a busy summer for Edu and Arteta to introduce reinforcements to push on from last season's success.

The latest player linked to the Gunners could prove to be a significant upgrade in adding depth to the squad, in a talent likened to a Premier League ace.

What’s the latest on Federico Chiesa to Arsenal?

As reported by Italian outlet La Repubblica, Arsenal are interested in Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.

The report claims that the Gunners have taken the ‘first step’ in contacting the Italian giants for information on the winger.

It’s suggested that Juventus have set an asking price of €60m (£51m) for the 25-year-old, who is contracted to the club until 2025.

What could Federico Chiesa offer to Arsenal?

Hailed as “magic” by members of the media, the Italian international could add a host of attributes to Arteta’s attack.

Deployed primarily on the left-wing, the Genova-born gem could add competition to areas in the Spaniard’s squad that are notably strong, to entice competition and further performances as players battle for starting spots.

The versatile ace is capable of playing in a variety of areas in the front line with the ability to play centrally as well as on either flank, making him a strong option for Arteta to snatch in a player that possesses attributes to suggest he could thrive in the Premier League.

federico-chiesa-liverpool-transfer-news-premier-league

As noted by WhoScored, the Italian is typically strong in skills expected from a wide player such as dribbling as well as being able to get stuck in and assist defensively, an element treasure in the Spaniard’s system at Arsenal.

Playing ahead of progressive overlapping full-backs is a dynamic approach to play going forward but can leave side’s defensively stretched on the counter, which is an area Chiesa could assist in as supported by his average of 2.8 duels won per game, via Sofascore.

As per FBref, the winger is likened to Manchester City whiz Riyad Mahrez, who is a prime example of how to exploit talent in depth in a player that in rotation is always up to par to perform when called upon.

The likeness between the pair is particularly showcased by the fact that the two men can both provide a creative spark from the flanks, with the City ace ranking in the top 3% among his European peers for assists, while the Euro 2020 winner ranks in the top 4% in that regard.

With Martinelli’s position cemented in the starting 11 following a delightful individual campaign that saw him produce 20 G/A in the Premier League, Chiesa could be deployed in a similar fashion to Mahrez at the Etihad with hopefully a similar effect.

The winger displayed traits that could see him thrive in Arteta’s side, averaging 4.52 prog carries per 90 as well as 2.26 successful take-ons per 90 to showcase his abilities on the ball, via FBref.

In signing a backup that possesses quality enough to be in the starting lineup, Arsenal could begin to close the gap between themselves and City by increasing in quality rather than just numbers.

West Ham Can Move On From Rice With ‘Unbelievable’ £40m Signing

West Ham United may have knocked back Arsenal's first bid for Declan Rice, rumoured to be in the region of £80m with add-ons, but it is becoming increasingly likely the central midfielder will not be at the London Stadium next year.

Losing Rice will be a major blow for West Ham given the England international's qualities on the field, including what he brings in terms of leadership.

The good news for the Europa Conference League winners is they have time on their side to bring in new players, and potentially a lot of cash to help strengthen in other areas.

While not strictly a like-for-like replacement, The Telegraph reported last week that West Ham were leading the race to sign Harvey Barnes from Leicester City following the Foxes' relegation to the Championship.

Should Rice's departure be confirmed in the coming days, Leicester could do with getting a deal over the line for Barnes – supposedly valued at £40m by Leicester – to help keep the feelgood factor around the club alive.

What can Harvey Barnes bring to West Ham United?

Barnes' best efforts were not enough to keep Leicester in the Premier League, with his team-high 13 goals and one assist proving to be in vain. With 0.43 goals per 90 minutes last season, as per FBref, the Englishman was on par with Ollie Watkins and Cody Gakpo.

In short, then, Barnes can add some goals to a West Ham side that managed just 41 of them last season across their 38 matches – a worse tally than relegated pair Leicester (49) and Leeds United (45).

declan-rice-west-ham-arsenal-transfer-gossip-gabriel-jesus-edu-arteta

As pointed out by WhoScored owner Martin Laurence, Barnes "combines pace and intelligent movement", while also being a "decent finisher". Indeed, that is backed up by his combined goals and assists stats across the past four seasons: 14, 13, 16 and 13 from 2019-20 through to 2022-23.

It is quite apparent that Barnes can bring something to United that they otherwise lack. The 25-year-old found the target from 47.2% of his shots last season – a huge increase on West Ham's best-performing attacking player in that area, with Said Benrahma doing so 33.3% of the time.

Barnes also averaged 24.4 carries per 90 minutes last time out. To put that in perspective, Jarrod Bowen – who could be under threat by Barnes' arrival – averaged 20.4.

As Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp put it two years ago: "Barnes is probably one of the biggest talents. I'm not sure if he is respected or appreciated as much as he should be. He is an unbelievable player."

The world is now more aware of Barnes' talents, as reflected by his fairly sizable valuation, but if West Ham mean business this summer then they must soften the Rice blow by bringing in a new exciting homegrown asset; that of Barnes.

Arsenal Set To Submit Major Transfer Move For PL Star

Arsenal are now believed to be ready to submit their opening bid for West Ham United's Declan Rice following the completion of their campaign.

Will Declan Rice leave West Ham?

The Premier League campaign from the Hammers left a lot to be desired as they were forced to settle for an underwhelming 14th-placed finish.

However, on Wednesday night they enjoyed European triumph after beating Fiorentina in the third-string competition to end their trophy drought.

And it was Rice who was the first to get his hands on the Europa Conference League trophy in Prague as he captained the Irons to victory in the final.

But it seems that may have been the final time he may have put on a West Ham shirt with a number of clubs believed to be interested in him.

And the player even recognised the interest in him ahead of the summer window in his post-game interview with BT Sports:

“At the moment there’s a lot of speculation going on about my future. There is interest out there from other clubs but ultimately I’ve still got two years left at West Ham, I love this club, there hasn’t been anything yet," he said.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has now claimed Arsenal are ready to submit their first bid for the 24-year-old now the final is out of the way with:

"Now it's going to be time for the big transfer and the feeling is that Arsenal have this bid ready for Declan Rice.

"Preparing that proposal it will arrive and be submitted very soon to try to tempt West Ham but it is also important to say that Bayern [Munich] are interested, yes, but they feel that the player would love to stay in the Premier League."

Will West Ham allow Rice to leave?

On the back of such a huge achievement in the club's history, it would be understandable if the West Ham owners were to double down on keeping their captain.

Rice has played a huge role in this squad over the years having already racked up a whopping 245 appearances by the age of just 24.

West Ham co-ownerDavid Sullivan

However, on the back of the final in Prague, owner David Sullivan has claimed he has promised the midfielder the opportunity to move on this summer:

"I think it has to be [his last game]. We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going," Sullivan told TalkSPORT.

"I think the offers will start to come today. There are three or four clubs who have shown interest, but out of respect to West Ham, while we're still playing, you don't make offers for players."

Now it seems as if the Hammers would be willing to allow their prized asset leave the club, it will be intriguing to see how much Sullivan will demand for the midfielder who only has one year left on his deal.
