أكد ياسر ريان لاعب الأهلي الأسبق، أن نجله ما زال لاعبًا ضمن صفوف القلعة الحمراء، إذ أنه لم يتم الإعلان رسميًا عن انتقاله إلى صفوف سيراميكا كليوباترا.

وقال ياسر ريان في تصريحات تلفزيونية بفضائية “إم بي سي مصر” عبر برنامج “اللعيب”: “أحمد ياسر ريان وقع بالفعل لسيراميكا، ولكن الناديين لم يعلنا حتى الآن عن الصفقة، الكثير من الأندية توقع مع لاعبين ولكنه حتى الآن مازال لاعبًا في الأهلي”.

وأضاف: “كنت أتمنى استمرار نجلي مع الأهلي، وهو إضافة قوية للفريق، وعندما احترف أرقامه كانت جيدة”.

Tillakaratne Dilshan has said he enjoyed the role of opener after hitting a blistering 92 off 72 balls, the fastest Test fifty scored by a Sri Lankan, on the opening day of the first Test against New Zealand in Galle.Opening the batting in a Test for the first time Dilshan helped Sri Lanka recover from 16 for 2 to an imposing 293 for 3 by stumps. Dilshan reached his half-century off 30 balls, one ball quicker than Arjuna Ranatunga who had done so against India at Kanpur in 1986-87.”I was under a little bit of pressure after two early wickets went, but I knew if I played positively I could reverse the trend and put the pressure back on the opposition. I did that by playing my own game,” Dilshan said. “It’s much easier batting as opener as there is no pressure on me. It’s not easy to bat at No. 6 and 7 because I am the last recognised batsman and I cannot play my shots but I have to play according to the situation. But opening I can go for my shots from the beginning. It’s a new ball and the field is also up and runs come quickly.”I didn’t know until I came to the dressing room that I had broken a Sri Lankan batting record for the fastest Test fifty,” he said. “I am proud to take the record off Arjuna Ranatunga and get my name in the record books. But I am really disappointed I couldn’t get to my ninth Test hundred.”In past two years I am batting well and I have been in good form. Newcastle recently appointed Eddie Howe as the club’s new manager after sacking Steve Bruce last month following the poor start to the Premier League season.

The ex-Bournemouth head coach is now tasked with leading the Magpies out of the relegation zone and to safety by the end of the season.

They are currently 19th in the Premier League table and are the only team in the entire division yet to win a match as it stands. With the January transfer window well over a month away, Howe will need to get the best out of the current squad in the coming weeks.

One player who Howe could look to unlock is Switzerland international Fabian Schar. The Magpies have had a howler with the defender over the last two years and the former Cherries boss could attempt to get him back to his best by offering him regular minutes in the side.

In Rafa Benitez’s final season at Newcastle (2018/19), Schar was sublime in the Premier League and averaged an excellent SofaScore rating of 7.14 as he made 5.3 tackles and interceptions per game. He was even compared to former Toon defender Philippe Albert, with Garth Crooks saying this in January 2019:

“I have to go back to the days of Philippe Albert for a performance like this from a Newcastle defender. I’m not saying he’s in that class but Fabian Schar did have a magnificent game.

“The Swiss international scored one of the best individual goals I’ve seen from a central defender in years, along with a match-winning intervention if ever I saw one. Can Newcastle survive this season? Yes, but not without Rafa Benitez.”

In December of that year, Transfermarkt valued him at a whopping £14.4m. However, that is when the downwards trend started as his average rating slipped down to 6.89 in Bruce’s first season before he was only handed 13 starts the following campaign and averaged a score of 6.64.

This season, Bruce and Graeme Jones have only given him two Premier League starts between them, averaging a rating of 6.75 in those games. His spiralling form under their former manager suggests that he handled the defender’s development poorly as Benitez was able to get him playing to a high standard week-in-week-out.

Bruce’s poor management of Schar is reflected in the player’s valuation. At the time of writing (15/11/21), Transfermarkt value him at £8.1m. This means that his value has plummeted £6.3m in just under two years of Bruce’s reign, highlighting the howler he – and Newcastle – have had with him.

Therefore, Howe could benefit from trying to get the best out of the Swiss gem in the coming weeks. If he can get back to the form he showed under Benitez, to deem him worthy of being valued at £14.4m, then he could be a useful asset for the Magpies.

An update has emerged on Rangers’ pursuit of a new defender amid talks of a new manager arriving at Ibrox…

What’s the talk?

According to Football Insider, the Gers are one of the clubs considering a swoop for Hearts central defender John Souttar ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claims Nottingham Forest and Stoke are also interested in Souttar, with Hearts potentially ready to cash in on him to avoid the defensive titan leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Instant hit

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has reportedly held a second round of talks with Rangers and could become the new manager of the club this week. If he does get the job then he should start to think about what he wants to do in the January transfer window, which is where Souttar comes into play.

The Dutchman could become an instant hit at Ibrox, if he isn’t already, by securing a deal to sign the 25-year-old to bolster the squad. Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun are both out of contract at the end of the season and Souttar could be a superb replacement for either of them.

Former Hearts boss Craig Levein once heaped praise on the defender and hailed his development at the club. He said:

“I’ve known him since he was 12 years old and he’s just got better and better. When he came here from Dundee Utd, we just needed to give him time.

“He’s grown into the player that I hoped he would be and for me he’s the best centre back in Scotland.

“Just for the fact that he can do wonderful things. His passing of the ball Saturday was fantastic, but he is also now capable physically of competing with any centre forward. His pace is very, very good and he’s strong, focused and aggressive.”

This highlights the level he has been playing at in Scotland in recent years, with Levein believing him to be the best centre-back in the division at the time of these quotes. His comments on his passing also suggests that he could suit Rangers’ possession style, with an ability to play out from the back.

The £3.1k-per-week beast has averaged a phenomenal WhoScored rating of 7.27 in the Premiership this term, whilst scoring three goals in 11 starts. Balogun and Goldson, meanwhile, have averaged scores of 7.06 and 7.00 respectively, suggesting that fans would love to see Souttar come in as he has shown that he can perform to a higher standard consistently in the same division this season.

Therefore, van Bronckhorst could make himself an instant hit with the supporters by making a major addition to the squad in Souttar. The defender has proven that he can excel in the Premiership and put in consistent, strong, displays and Rangers could benefit from his talents if they lose one, or both, of Goldson or Balogun.

He has three weeks to decide if he can cope with his first trip abroad since returning from the 2006-07 tour of Australia with his “stress-related illness.”Somerset are trying to help accommodate his situation with a tour plan to make him comfortable enough to play in India and Trescothick has until September 7 to make his decision, which is when the squad is cut from 20 to 15 players.Richard Gould, Somerset’s chief executive, has been working closely with Trescothick, discussing possible ideas to help him feel confident enough to perform in India.”We’ve got about a month to work out ways we can try to help him compete,” Gould told .”There has been some talk about whether or not we can base him with his family somewhere and then just fly him to India for games. We’ll have to look at the logistics of the flight times and costs. We’re not going to put any pressure on him whatsoever. If he wants to give it a go we will help him as much as we can.
