Ralf está de volta ao Corinthians e pode fazer sua reestreia neste domingo no clássico contra o Santos no Pacaembu, válido pelo Campeonato Paulista. Ele está relacionado, começa no banco, mas aproveitou para lembrar da última vez em que os rivais se enfrentaram no estádio. O volante estava em campo e saiu vencedor. O Timão bateu o Santos por 2 a 1 no dia 12 de maio, data da final do Campeonato Paulista. Paulo André e Paulinho fizeram os gols.

Além da lembrança da vitória, Ralf pode reencontrar companheiros que estavam com ele naquela época. São os casos do goleiro Cássio, o meia Danilo e o atacante Emerson Sheik, campeões paulista com o Timão naquele ano.

– É de suma importância reencontrar esses companheiros. Quando se trata de clássico, é um campeonato à parte. Rever os meus amigos que foram campeões mundiais comigo me deixa muito feliz e motivado, fora os outros jogadores que chegaram depois e somam bastante ao grupo – disse Ralf ao site oficial do clube.

Ralf também lembrou de outro confronto marcante com o Santos em sua primeira passagem pelo Corinthians. O Timão eliminou o rival na semifinal da Libertadores de 2012, abrindo caminho para o título. Na época, o volante se destacou por ser peça fundamental para parar Neymar. O segundo e decisivo jogo também foi disputado no Pacaembu.

– O clássico contra o Santos na Libertadores foi importante (vitória na semifinal da Libertadores de 2012), quando fiz gol contra eles no Pacaembu também marcou bastante (4 x 2 no Brasileiro de 2010). Jogos contra o Santos são marcantes. Desde a época do Neymar era sempre um confronto direto e difícil. Respeitamos a equipe deles e faremos um bom jogo no domingo – lembrou Ralf.

O volante retornou após duas temporadas na China. Ele assinou contrato válido por dois anos e chega para agregar experiência e força ao grupo.

– É como se fosse minha primeira passagem. A partir do momento que não tiver esse frio na barriga, tem que parar de jogar. Isso eu aprendi com Ronaldo. Estou muito motivado para voltar e poder ajudar o professor e os companheiros – finalizou Ralf.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, claims the Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The Lowdown: Perisic’s contract

The 33-year-old is currently set to be out of contract in the summer following a six-year stint with the Serie A side. The winger has amassed 245 appearances in an Inter shirt, scoring 50 goals and producing 46 assists.

Of course, the Croatia international won the Italian top flight with now Lilywhites boss Antonio Conte last season.

As a result, with the attacker’s contract set to expire, a number of rumours have arisen linking the Croatian with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Latest: Taylor’s news…

According to Ryan Taylor of Express Sport, Tottenham are waiting to see what happens with Perisic’s contract situation. Taking to Twitter, he claimed:

“Tottenham one of several clubs (from Eng & Ger) waiting to discover whether Ivan Perišić will extend his contract with Inter Milan. Croatian won Scudetto under Antonio Conte & could be available on free transfer. Spurs open to exploring deal, providing numbers make sense.”

The Verdict: Good signing

Given his experience in the big leagues across Europe, Perisic would be a good signing for Conte’s Lilywhites side.

The winger has previously been hailed by former Inter boss Luciano Spalletti as an “incredible professional both physically and mentally”, who even rather bizarrely claimed that he has the “physique of a horse”, suggesting he should still have a few more years in him at a high level.

Therefore, on a free transfer, a player of this stature can only be of good use to this Tottenham’s squad, especially with multiple fronts to hopefully compete on next season.

Phillip Hughes has found out the hard way how Justin Langer sweated and fought to play 105 Tests. Hughes has just lived the Langer lifestyle for three days but now believes he could hardly be better prepared to return to the Test team after seven matches spread over four series and an imposing record of 615 runs at 51.25.Whether that happens in India in October, or during the Ashes campaign this summer, or in another series some time in the future, the decision is out of Hughes’ hands. He knows there is only one focus for him in the immediate future – to score so many runs for New South Wales that selection will take care of itself.At 21, Hughes knows that he has time on his side and a national selection panel eager to promote him after he was dumped during last year’s Ashes but he is not willing to risk being unprepared when his name is finally called. “He knows how to score runs but he has an outstanding work ethic and has a fighter’s attitude,” Langer said.”He has a run-maker’s instinct but he is also working to build a technical base for the next 15 years, not just the coming summer. He is only 21 and has a great record but he knows there are plenty of areas he can get better. How exciting is that?”Battered and sore after three gruelling days, Hughes was still elated by the experience. It involved dawn boxing sessions and beach running, three daily net sessions against a bowling machine pounding 150kph deliveries into his rib cage, Langer’s old favourite of a century of 20m sprints and then nights spent at the Langer dinner table where the philosophies of life and cricket were dissected. He paid his own way to Perth and stayed with the Langer family at their City Beach home.Langer remains Australia’s batting coach but has a job description that involves being as much a mentor and inspiration as technical adviser. “I’ve got to know Justin better and better over the past 18 months and given that my [dislocated] shoulder is now 100%, it was a good time to get over here and work on a few things and get some tough practice under my belt,” Hughes said. “It was pretty hard work, much harder than I anticipated, but Justin played 105 Tests so that shows there is a clear reward if you do the work.”Hughes will shortly travel to Hampshire to play the final three matches and while his sessions with Langer were to arm him for the county stint, his trip involved a broader range of experiences. “I worked on some specific things and just general batting but it was also just great to spend three days with him and talk about every day life,” Hughes said. “The passion that he has got for sport and life is simply fantastic.”For every question I asked him, he asked me one back. He played 105 Tests so there were plenty of things about that experience to talk about but he also reinforced how important it was to have a good balance off the field. It was not just about scoring runs but having respect for the game and respect for your opposition.”Hughes arrived with a bang against South Africa last year, scoring twin centuries in his second match, but like Langer and a host of other cricketers, was dropped and forced to address the technical and mental issues hindering his progress. Langer had several phases in his career but finished so strongly that he was one of only seven players to score 5000 runs in the final five years of his career.

Nottingham Forest are one of the EFL’s most in form sides having lost just one league game in 2022 with Steve Cooper’s side very much in the picture for a playoff spot come the end of the season.

Having beaten Birmingham City 2-0 at the City Ground on Saturday, the Reds are now third in the Championship table and have an outside shot at sneaking into the automatic promotion places with second place Bournemouth six points ahead with seven games to go.

It’s been a marvellous turnaround for the East Midlands club under Steve Cooper, who has made a colossal impact in the Forest dugout, with the Welshman looking set to lead a side to a top-six finish for the third consecutive season.

The likes of Brennan Johnson, Lewis Grabban, Ryan Yates and Keinan Davis have all been fit and firing over the course of the season. However, Cooper’s talented squad could be further improved with the addition of U23s striker Will Swan who has enjoyed an impressive campaign in Premier League 2.

In the pipeline

21-year-old Swan has scored 12 goals and assisted a further four in 18 appearances for Forest in Premier League 2 this season and is certainly one of the youth setup’s hottest prospects.

The East Midlands outfit sit third in the second division of the Premier League youth league after an impressive campaign with the English striker’s goals a major contributing factor to their success.

Swan has had various loan spells without truly making the grade at Forest yet but the forward will undoubtedly be knocking on the door of Cooper.

The loan signing of Keinan Davis from Aston Villa in January certainly boosted the Welshman’s striking options, but at the same time limited the opportunities that could’ve been handed to Swan.

Although, if Davis isn’t to make his stay at the City Ground permanent in the summer, the 21-year-old could find a clear pathway to the first team next season.

The idea of having a lethal finisher like Swan linking up with the creativity of Brennan Johnson and James Garner would certainly be a mouth-watering concept for Forest fans.

They both have superb technical attributes and that’s where Swan thrives too, with journalist Josh Bunting hailing his “lovely” ability earlier this year.

Whether or not the young striker will be given an opportunity in the near future is yet to be seen though.

Kumar Sangakkara was found not guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct after colliding with offspinner Nathan McCullum during the abandoned ODI against New Zealand in Dambulla. He had been initially charged with breaking clause 2.2.4 which deals with “inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between Players in the course of play during an International Match”. But match referee Alan Hurst cleared him of any offence.The incident occurred in the 27th over of the Sri Lankan innings. Sangakkara guided a McCullum delivery to fine leg and set off for a run. He was turning for the second when he bumped into the bowler, who had his back to Sangakkara. McCullum complained to the umpire and Sangakkara also had a word with him.Had Sangakkara been found guilty, he could have been fined between 50 to 100% of his match fee and/or handed two suspension points (a ban of a Test or two ODIs or two Twenty20s).”I looked at video footage of the incident from various angles and considered the detailed evidence of the umpires. I found that video evidence that was put forward by the player provided reasonable doubt as to whether the contact was deliberate,” Hurst said.Sangakkara defended himself when asked about the incident during a press conference. “When I was finishing the first run, the bowler has to be behind the wicket or aside, especially a spinner. When I ran for the first run, I knew there were two runs. That’s my duty. On my last two steps, for some reason, Nathan McCullum came out of the crease and was obstructing my way.”I don’t know whether it was done purposely, I didn’t have anything to do. When I [was at the] crease, there was some contact. When that happened, my head also had turned the other way. He took offence to that and complained to the umpire. On that incident the umpires told the match referee that I was at wrong. Not McCullum but Tyron Wijewardene, Ranmore Martinez and Gamini Dissanayake. But the match referee saw all visuals and decided that I was not at fault.”Sangakkara added: “The bowler moves in the line of a batsman and the batsman has no way toavoid contact, if he does, he can be run out. Sometime, bowlers may tend to do it to deny the batsmen being comfortable and going for the second. That’s bit of speculation. The match referee, after viewing the footage, didn’t find anything wrong.”

Nas redes sociais do jogador, houve uma ‘invasão’ do torcedor botafoguense pedindo que Aguirre fechasse com o clube. E a recíproca foi verdadeira.
